At Calvium we are passionate about making technology accessible to the creative industries. Our AppFurnace app development website provides everything a designer needs to make fantastic iPhone and Android apps. Using AppFurnace you can quickly layout pages to design and make feature rich business apps that engage customers by communicating advice and tips, showcasing products and services, or supporting events and promotions. But that’s just the start. AppFurnace allows you to easily attach stories, videos, offers, vouchers or information to places so that you can produce apps that create a rich digital layer over the physical world.

A great example of this is an app that we made in collaboration with curators from The Tower of London, Historic Royal Palaces. Visitors to the Tower of London are able to actively participate in some of its most infamous and audacious escapes in the places they really happened, thanks to this London landmark’s first iphone app. The historically accurate, location-aware game uses GPS to trigger content as participants attempt to smuggle virtual letters, ropes and other contraband to help prisoners escape.
The app was designed to engage families and teenagers with the virtual characters encountered through game play that help bring alive the real characters of yesteryear whose footsteps you are walking in and whose spirits are embedded in the fabric of the rooms and cells you visit within the Tower.

We have also worked with The Royal Shakespeare Company to develop an app that added an extra dimension to a live promenade performance called Adelaide Rd. You can read about this and other case studies on our website at: www.appfurnace.com/case-studies
