Katie Day

Katie Day joined iShed from December 2009 to 2010 as an Associate Producer, to run the Theatre Sandbox programme during 2010.

Theatre Sandbox is a national scheme to support the production of six new experimental pieces of theatre/performance which utilise pervasive media technologies. Setting out to grow an active community of peer learning and development, the scheme will take place over six months and include a structured programme of commissioning, mentoring, work in progress performances, knowledge exchange and PR/promotion.

She was based in the Pervasive Media Studio for one year as part of a Cultural Leadership Placement, which also offers a training bursary and the support of a mentor.

Her background is in theatre, and she is the Artistic Director of The Other Way Works, a theatre company based in Birmingham.  In this role she initiates and directs new productions, delivers participatory activities, and leads the strategic development of the Company.  She directed the company's current production Black Tonic which premiered in Manchester with Contact Theatre in November 2008, and toured to Birmingham in April 2009, and Bristol's Mayfest in May 2009.
