The colour of totems

Monday, June 6, 2011 - 23:33 by tomburton

I have been looking into what potentially could be a simple way for realising the idea of totems. Colour recognition. This would allow us the freedom to use any object, something which Sharon and I feel is important. We really don't want 'devices' hanging off people. They come loaded with connotations and pre-suppositions. This could be extended to use infrared as a means to combat lighting conditions.

Two colours are tracked in the demo and in this case the position is actually tracked, although in reality this probably isn't necessary. I mocked up a fake 'voice for the radio' and also the text of a book appearing on a blank page or letter.

Make sure you turn your sound up if you can't hear the music being effected to well.
