  • Lunch time Talk: The Most Dangerous Game: Exposing Sixth Formers to Power Tools

    Sam Phippen and Tim Jones are undergraduate computer scientists at Bristol University, together, along with their constructed robot Alice, they presented the student robotics programme that they run for sixth formers at various schools in Bristol. The project culminates in a robotics competition, where the students demonstrate their acquired skills in engineering, electronics and computer programming put into practice.

    Week commencing 19th March Hello campers, it’s been relatively quiet in the Studio this week, as a lot of the studio residents are taking the energy of the Studio to partners around the world! A strange blanket of serenity has fallen over the usual hustle and bustle of the studio; in fact I can even hear the gentle tapping of a neighbouring keyboard as I write this to you now, unheard of in our crazy buzzy world! Anyway, what have we been up to?

  • Heritage Sandbox: from Georgian Gardens to future cemeteries

    Six projects have been commissioned out of the South West to unlock histories, hauntings and happenings in all kinds of UK heritage attractions, unraveling rich experiences through the use of cutting edge technologies. The commissions come under the banner of Heritage Sandbox, the first run of funding announced by REACT, one of four UK Knowledge Exchange Hubs for the Creative Economy funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

Produced by Pervasive Media Studio residents, the Digital Cultures Research Centre, it will introduce a collection of people from diverse backgrounds and practices to share thoughts and ideas about the rapidly developing field of interactive documentary.
