A few weeks before I started this project, I met Bristol based singer Victoria Bourne. I told her about my project and after we’d enthusiastically chatted non-stop about composers and musicians we love, I booked myself in for some singing lessons with her. I’m not a trained singer – so I thought some lessons would  help with my preparation for the choir workshops and to learn some vocal technique.

Victoria is fantastic as she has such diverse experience  - being highly accomplished in classical technique aswell as many extended vocal techniques used in contemporary classical music plus a lot of experience in world music styles such as Indian, and flamenco.  So… I’ve had 2 lessons so far, and learnt a lot more about how to use my voice, how to use my breath properly, the differences between ‘open’ classical technique, and nasal singing, plus some extended technique – and, importantly – how I can communicate this to other people, with useful warm up and voice training exercises – important for my upcoming choir workshops!...
