Studio resident Geraint Ffrancon has been commissioned by Local Journeys and the National Trust to create location-aware music compositions for their ‘Channel Weather Symmetry’ project, which is grant-funded by the PRS Foundation and others through the Beyond Borders scheme.
The project will be based at two National Trust locations either side of the Bristol Channel – Rhosili (Wales) and Brean Down (England). Geraint is collaborating with photographer and filmmaker Nicky Brown to produce both a record and response to the weather as it rolls up the Bristol Channel during 2011 & '12.
Listeners with GPS-enabled smartphones will be able to hear the compositions whilst wandering the headlands. The video and music will also be available to view and download online. The project will be launched at free public events taking place at both sites in Spring 2012.
