igfest '08

Taking place around the Harbourside in Bristol, igfest is the first festival in the South West to invite people to discover and re-discover the city through playing games in the street

Freed from screens and boards, players of these games roam the streets hungry for fun. One game may see you fleeing over Pero's bridge with a Pac Man ghost on your tail, another has you playing snakes and ladders up and down the stairs and slopes of a multi story car park.

igfest is about people having fun, a lot of fun, old and young, game players and non game players alike. Because play should not be lost, it's a liberation we all need. These new type of games will have us all playing together across the city. So come along and play nice.

igfest is run by Simon Johnson and the iglab team and supported by the Pervasive Media Studio.

Behind us lies a fantastic weekend of hunting moose, being chased by zombies, searching for treasures and bathing in the city's fountains. Igfest 2009 was a great success with the sunniest weekend anybody could have hoped for, all games being booked up, some great national and international press coverage and - above all - a wonderful crowd of players, volunteers and co-operators. The city truly was our playground.
