The residency will begin in September 2011 and is part of Embedded, Sound and Music's new artist development programme, supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
Using location-aware objects, sound and touch, this new work aims to create intimate links between people, despite the separation of long distances. The project is inspired by communication between animals such as reindeer, whose clicking feet let the herd know how fast each other are running, even when not visible. It will also build on Jen’s previous collaborative mapping work Comob, developed as a research tool to explore social and spatial relationships between people in motion.
